Between October 2–3, 2025, in Edineț, Republic of Moldova, representatives of the Intercommunity Development Association for Public Transport Bucharest-Ilfov (TPBI) participated in the second transnational working meeting within the project “SMARTFORM – Supporting climate neutrality strategies through advanced regional cooperation and multi-level governance.”
Part of the Interreg Europe 2021–2027 Programme, which supports the exchange of experience and good practices between European regions and cities, the “SMARTFORM” project encourages the exchange of information, ideas, and best practices to improve energy efficiency and achieve climate neutrality.
During this visit, the discussion and presentation sessions were combined with visits to both public institutions and private entities that have understood the necessity of using renewable energy and ecological solutions—both to reduce production and operational costs and to decrease climate impact.
Among the topics presented and discussed were:
-
thermal rehabilitation of buildings to reduce total operating costs;
-
use of solar energy to meet consumption needs in both public and private sectors (public lighting, powering educational units, industrial production);
-
use of biomass for heating or as fuel in production activities (thus reducing the need for gas or oil consumption);
-
encouraging the population to replace old household appliances with new, more energy-efficient ones, through the granting of ECOVouchers (a program implemented at the national level by the National Center for Sustainable Energy of the Republic of Moldova).
The “SMARTFORM” project represents a common denominator for European regions and cities regarding a clean, energy-efficient, and climate-neutral future.
