Between October 23–24, 2025, representatives of the Bucharest–Ilfov Intercommunity Development Association for Public Transport (TPBI) had the pleasure of facilitating and accompanying the official visit of the International Association of Public Transport (UITP) delegation to the Bucharest–Ilfov region.

The visit program included a series of meetings and working visits to the main public transport operators in the region, highlighting the significant progress achieved toward sustainable urban mobility.

On the first day, the delegation visited the new depot of the operator STCM Ecotrans — a modern facility fully equipped for operating a fleet of 100% electric buses. This investment represents an important step in the Bucharest–Ilfov region’s transition toward clean, efficient, and environmentally friendly public transport.

Continuing the program, the guests were welcomed at the Dudești Depot of the operator STB SA, where they had the opportunity to explore the history of urban electric transport, admire vintage tram models exhibited during the European Mobility Week, as well as discover the most modern trams currently in operation.

The second day of the visit was dedicated to the operator METROREX S.A., where the UITP delegation was warmly welcomed by Mrs. Mariana Miclăuș, Director General, and her team. The visit included a detailed presentation of the activities carried out at the Metrorex Central Dispatch Center, as well as an in-depth discussion on ongoing development projects — particularly the construction of the new M6 metro line.

TPBI extends its sincere thanks to all the partners involved — STCM Ecotrans, STB SA, and METROREX SA — for their openness, professionalism, and excellent collaboration during this visit. We also express our gratitude to the International Association of Public Transport (UITP) for its interest in the modernization and sustainable development projects of public transport in the Bucharest–Ilfov region.

Through such joint initiatives, TPBI continues to promote best practices in urban mobility and strengthen international cooperation, for the benefit of passengers and a greener future.
