TPBI is the only institution that provides the public with open data about urban mobility. Today, we highlight the traffic jam situation in Bucharest and Ilfov – directly on the interactive platform: maps.mo-bi.ro.

In previous episodes, we presented to you trip planning, the map of metropolitan train services and stations, as well as the transport network, bus depots, and existing depots, with complete information available on the maps.mo-bi.ro platform. This time, we will focus on other public data made available exclusively by TPBI, a premiere for Romania.

On the maps.mo-bi.ro portal, you can now find a map created by TPBI in collaboration with Waze and Google, which shows in real time all congested arteries in Bucharest and Ilfov county. Practically, this information is found in the databases of the tech giant, and based on it, travel times and routes offered by the two applications are calculated. The information can now be seen by anyone, but cannot be automatically extracted without obtaining explicit agreement from Google and Waze.

To see this map, go to the maps.mo-bi.ro page, and at the top right, you will find a button that leads to the traffic jam map. You can “zoom in” on a certain area, and by accessing an artery with issues, interested people can see the length of the traffic jam and the speed of vehicles caught in that section. Also here, appear the arteries where there is any danger caused by public works or existing problems in the roadway.

This information is useful both for those who use public transport, to avoid certain lines or areas caught in very heavy traffic, and for those who use alternative means of transport.
